Feasibility Prediction for Rapid IC Design Space Exploration

The DARPA POSH program echoes with the research community and identifies that engineering productivity has fallen behind Moore’s law, resulting in prohibitive increase IC design cost at leading technology nodes. primary reason is it requires many computing resources, expensive tools, even days to complete a implementation. However, end of this process, some designs could not meet constraints become unroutable, creating vicious circuit cycle. As result, designers have re-run whole process after modification. This applied machine learning approach automatically identify rule checking (DRC) violation issues help designer optimal DRCs before long detailed routing through iterative greedy search. proposed algorithm achieved up 99.99% constraint prediction accuracy reduced 98.4% DRC violations only 6.9% area penalty.
